Sustainability of Canadian Agriculture
April 18, 2016
At Serecon, we bill ourselves as "specialists in the business of agriculture". While the economics of agriculture have been at the core of most of our work, we have also been actively involved in the measurement of environmental and social aspects of sustainability in many of our projects.
While we are always actively working on projects relating directly to the sustainability of food production, it is a particular theme this week because three of our staff (Bob Burden, Angela Pearson, and Markus Weber) will be attending three coinciding meetings in Winnipeg related to agricultural sustainability:
- Canadian Field Print Initiative
- Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops
- Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef
We look forward to participating in these meetings as we improve our understanding of sustainability as it relates to the food supply chain. This includes everything from the consumer's demand for continuous improvement in agri-food sustainability to the producer's ability to build on and demonstrate progress already achieved.
